Regional climate modelling
نویسنده
چکیده
A new technique for climate simulations and projections has emerged over the past 15 years that allows to reach unprecedented spatial resolution at an affordable computing cost: regional climate modelling. The technique has matured and several groups around the world are participating in model intercomparison projects and collaborating in coordinated endeavour to produce ensemble climate-change projections at regional scales. The paper describes the formulation of a specific regional climate model (RCM), the Canadian RCM, commenting on the formulation choices and experience gained during the development and validation process of this model. Current issues in regional climate modelling are also reviewed and discussed. 2006 Published by Elsevier Inc.

Simulation of climate change in Iran during 2071-2100 using PRECIS regional climate modelling system
Parameters such as future precipitation, temperature, snowfall, and runoff were modeled using PRECIS regionalclimate modeling system in Iran with the horizontal resolutions of 0.44×0.44°C in latitude and longitude under SRESA2 and B2 scenarios. The dataset was based on HadAM3p during the periods of 1961-1990 and 2071-2100. Theoverall precipitation error of the model in the period of 1961-1990 w...
متن کاملRegional Climate Change Projections for Use in Impacts and Adaptation Research in South-east Australia
Aim NARCliM (NSW/ACT Regional Climate Modelling project) is a regional climate modelling project designed to provide regional climate change data for use in impacts and adaptation research across sectors. Method The climate models used were carefully chosen to satisfy the following criteria: The chosen models perform adequately for the recent past compared to observations. The chosen models...
متن کاملLand-Use/Land-Cover Change and Its Impacts on Weather and Climate
Land-use and land-cover changes (LULCC) significantly affect weather and climate as iswell documented in the scientific literature. These impacts include changes in air temperature, precipitation, atmospheric moisture content, energy fluxes, and mesoscale and potentially large-scale circulations. Recently, the United States National Research Council (2005) highlighted the importance of LULCC an...
متن کاملEuroclim: Monitoring the Cryosphere to Improve Climate Change Modelling
One of the potentially greatest threats to human beings is climate change. Climate scenario modelling indicates that our environmental conditions will change with increasing speed in the coming years with one of the most significant changes being a warming of the global climate. However, although there will be warming on the global scale there will be large regional variations in climate that w...
